iPhone OS 4 Hands-On (With Pictures)
09/04/10 09:49 Filed in: HANDS-ON

So we played with the new OS 4 during the last hours and here's our impressions so far...
For a first beta this build is pretty stable we had no crash so far and our phone is as fast as it was before upgrading.
The multitasking is here but it's hard to test it since most apps don't support it yet. Double tap on the home screen button brings a "dock like" list of all the apps currently running and from there you can switch between apps. The feature so far looks to be working very well.
The new "Folder" features works very well, it help you clean your home screen and put your apps in folders (12 apps per folders maximum).
You can now set a wallpaper for the Home Screen but we are currently stuck with the default one as the feature to change the wallpaper is not yet working.
The new 3D transparent Dock is similar to the one found in Snow Leopard and on the iPad.
The camera (for photo) now include a zoom feature up to 5x and the camera (for video) now include the tap to focus feature that was already available in the photo camera.
The mail app have been redesigned and now allow faster switching between your mailboxes, a unified mailbox also allow you to see emails from different accounts under the same mailbox.
The new Game Centre social gaming feature looks cool we manage to log in using our iTunes account but since the service is not live yet, we got no friend, no games invite, and no leaderboards.
You can now search the web directly from spotlight.

That’s a billion ad opportunities per day!” So Apple unveiled iAd a revolutionary new way for developers to include ads into their apps. Ads will be hosted and served by Apple, 60% of the revenues go to developers.
